I don't know either. I just walked out the front door and there it was. So I ran back inside & grabbed the D7000, 500mm Cat, tripod & remote. Then started snapping away from the front porch.
EDIT: If it makes you feel any better I think it was only a partial. Either that or I missed most of it too. It is finished now.

ok that makes me feel better, i thought is was a full eclipse thing so i was sitting out in teh cold waiting when i finally noticed teh eclipse was gettign smaller...

not trying to jack your thread greg, but the less moon threads the better probably

I stumbled across the eclipse while testing gear for the Venus transit on Wednesday, I had forgotten all about it so that was a nice surprise.

Nice work biggerry and Mr Darcy. A 600mm+ lens on fx is needed to get any decent images of the moon without having to crop. 500mm on DX works nicely and your moon images look nice and sharp biggerry.

I didn't know about it either until I saw it when I was on a walk with the dog but only had a 58mm lens with me and was shooting velvia 50 film

That's what I used but I cropped fairly extensively. I'd have liked 1000mm. I tried the TC, but couldn't fit it to the mirror lens. Damn!
Mine is not quite as sharp as the others. Not sure if it was the lens, my eyes or the high cloud. There was a bit about here.

It was taken with an ED80 clone (560mm f/7) and 2x TC on a D7000.
