I use http://www.insuranzdirect.com.au/

They have been very good. I have the gear and also professional indemnity through them

Thanks for this, I've been looking at other insurance company specialising in covering photographic equipment. Anyone else have any personal experience with this company? or is AON is the top of the bunch?

I currently have my gear insured with my home insurer. But i want to get it done with a photography insurer. I started to do it with AON, but i have been super super busy with my work at the moment, and they wanted model numbers, serial numbers, etc etc and it would have taken a while for me with all the gear that i wanted insured (cameras, computers, lenses, video stuff, mics, etc) and i let it get away from me because of that.

Is this standard practice for this sort of thing? I know it's probably lazy for me to not want to do it, but i'd rather not have to is all.

Hey phoenix

Yeah I had to do the same thing when I was with AON. I photographed my equipment with my license showing and filled out all the paperwork like serial numbers and cost of purchase. Don't know if its standard

Mine just want to know seriual numbers, make & model and value to insure

I did have mine just on home contents, but it would not be covered if being used for business purposes and their cost for professional liability was outrageous.

Hey Darren

How long have you been with insuranzdirect and how did you hear about it? Also is there like only one person who looks after your policy like with AON?

Around about a year, it was recommended to me my another forum members(s). So far I have only had one claim (but lots of additions  ) and have only dealt with the one person who has been very responsive.

Thanks for the link, I was looking at bundling it with home insurance, but now I'm convinced I should get it separate as I use my camera gear so much now.

Its worth talking with your H&C insurer before yo do anything - it's likely that you are already insured for individual items valued at $1000 or less for theft etc. What you may not be insured for in your standard policy is accidental damage while oustide the home for individual goods that are over $1000 - in which case all you may have to do is have tem listed on your policy. I knwo thsi as some time ago I was tripped and watched my D2H and 80-200 lens snap in half. My standard H&C policy covered it.

But, BEST thing to do is read your policy or ring them up.

I think i's wise to have insurance of some kind.

I really should get insurance on my stuff, I got a quote from AON a little while back but have been too broke to spend the 450-500 on it. Maybe I should work hard over summer and get that insurance.
