Good news for importer

Postby birddog114 on Mon Oct 17, 2005 5:43 pm

I've just come back from a quick meeting with ACS and FedEx and their Customers regarding the:

Customs has announced that the formal import entry thresholds for air and sea has been increased to $1000. To read the Australian Customs Notice (ACN) 2005/57 regarding the formal import entry and revenue collection thresholds in the ICS. Pls. visit the following link:

http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/resources/notices/ACN0557.pdf

So, any purchase or imported goods from overseas less than AU$1000.00 including shipping and handling does not require a Customs Entry Form and no GST payable. The old value was $250.00 and required an Entry Customs Form.

That is excellent news Birdy, I can't imagine anything coming from HK having a value higher than $1000.

This changes made lot of the delayed clearance from Customs since last week.
I got 3 shipments coming from US and HKG, they're just all cleared this afternoon and I had to pick them up myself from FedEx instead of they deliver, but hopefully, all will back to normal soon.
