Thanks to Gerry a bunch of us turned up at Long reef at an early hour.

I learnt a few things about the waves. Main learning point was to respect them; alot. I did have some great troubles timing the waves as I had lost my remote.

Here are a few of my favourites for your critique. They SOOC (apart from LR adjustments on laptop monitor) as I am away from home. I haven't had a closer look at my brackets for HDRs yet.

Thanks to everyone for making it fun! Definitely needs to be repeated. I love having so many hours to the day after waking up so early!

#2 - I like the composition, but I'd like to see it a bit less overexposed.

#4 - While it's very purple/magenta I think this one works well (a touch cooler might be an improvement - hard to say). I like the dreamy quality it has.

Considering you were having a morning to forget you have come back with some nice stuff!

#1 has plenty going on and it just leads you into the sun
#2 dial back the exposure a bit and I think you have a winner!
#3 missing something, it has nice foreground, nice leading lines...that lead you into blank
#4 I like it, a bit mysterious as Peter said, but works well

I really like #2 - I only wish it wasn't blown out in the middle and just had nice reflective water - I'm not sure how yo found nice still water like that - I was looking for it all over without success

The second image is a winner here in my eyes, hopefully you can recover those highlights since it does come across over exposed, the composition here is good and the simple, still refelection will always be a winner! Its a shame the clouds and the pinks did not come to the party, but none the less you have done well with what was available.

The first one is nice but since the water movement and flow is the primary subject it (imo) needs to be defined and provide a solid foundation for the eye to follow, here its a bit mashed up leaving my eyes lost in the image - the horizons a bit off too.

The third one is nice, you had a good possie there, you had more balls than me to crouch over there - the position has paid off and hopefully you can recover the exposure to bring that brightness down.

#4 the water is running out of the image 'cause its crooked - comments from #3 appy to this one too

wow the first looks like you've capture a space shot of the earth in the water.

Good leading line in the first but I'd be inclined to lighten it a bit on the LHS
#2 looks a little cold yeah I know it was but I'd be inclined to warn it up a bit.
Good composition in 3
Number 4 might work better as a pano crop

It was to the left of the reef that you guys were hanging out on. A little bit of wading was required I think.

Do you mean you'd prefer more definition in the waves? [For this I will also do HDR as I have two more brackets with plenty of shadow info]

Thanks Ray. Now that I am home, I can work at these with my monitor etc. #2 will be HDRed and #4 DOES look better as a pano! I took about 15% off top and bottom!
