On Sunday I was fortunate enough to go to Featherdale Wildlife Park with Matt K & Philo. Here is my pick of the animals (see here for the birds) More images from the day can be found HERE.

Please note - this is not my normal area of photography so I'd be interested in any observations about my composition and my post processing (they've been put through my standard landscape workflow).

All shots were taken with the 28-70/f2.8 and natural light.

Aren't they all so damn gorgeous!!!! Great subject shots and so crisp.

The koala is the pick of these for me. I don't have any photographic theory backing me on composition of this shot but I'd be tempted to crop a bit off the top. But that's just me and I'm definitely no expert. I just feel there is too much space at the top. JMHO.

Good capture getting the tongue out on the echidna!

Peter, these are all great images, but for me, the best is the lizard - I don't know why, but it just seems a little sharper and you have managed the contrast very well.

I do enjoy Featherdale.
You have done a great job especially with how contrasty this place can be. Lots of bright light with plenty of shadows. Also the Echidna is difficult becasue of the way that they soak up the blacks especially when in full sun light.

My only suggestion is to try and get down even lower or on the same level as the animal. When ever we film with animals we try and make sure that we either hold the animal close or get down on the same level as the animal.

These are a lovely series of wildlife shots, even though this isn't normally your type of photography. Composition is good, they are pin sharp and good use of DOF on a couple.

I used to do work experience as a bird keeper at Featherdale some 16-17 years ago and have fond memories of the place.
