Decided to venture out of the usual places I go for late night street photography and went to Lygon Street. For those who haven't been to Melbourne, it's essentially Little Italy where the whole street is filled with cafes, pasta and pizza restaurants, gelati places, etc. It's like Chinatown...only with Italians

Here are 4 from last night. I'll post the rest of the series up once I get more sleep and do some more processing.

I really like the third one. Just for the lighting and the different color treatment. Almost nostalgic from a bygone era. Did that make sense?

it seems like you have been watching lots of black dhalia

i can see there is art direction to this set a major improvement from your other mood shots posted a couple of weeks back

All of these have late night appeal to them but I am particular fond of #2, the chairs.. something about it.. I like the rhythm and the blue tones you've used. If anything it's almost too tight on the lead chair.. but masterful stuff.


#3 and #4 are interesting as there are almost inversions of one another..

Devilla - Thanks mate. Understood perfectly

Wendell - I'm starting to groom myself to pay even more attention to what I'm taking and then applying an artistic style, as you mentioned, to it to create a proper final image. It takes a bit longer but it's worth it. I think that's what I've been lacking in the past - that extra patience to put in a final touch to create more impact out of my images.

Methd - Thanks Wasn't sure if I was going for a nostalgia style, but I guess it's there now.

Craig - I never realised that about 3&4 but you're right. Even more interesting is that it's the same building Good thing I went for a tighter shot and took each half seperately then.

These are terrific Wayne, just doing street photography at night is a challenge, but your results here are excellent.

My favourite is #3, I absolutely love it.

Number 3 is great the colours suit it well the only thing is i feel if that maybe the right hand side of the picture needs to be cropped off at the edge of the window and then you would only have the 3 windows in the shot without the sign etc. on the right.

Well done! They are all good and specially the last two.
