New printer

Postby Matt. K on Tue Jun 26, 2018 10:54 pm

Purchased a new printer recently...Epson SC600. Cost $999 from Teds Camera store. Print quality is outstanding....and black and white prints even more so. The shadow detail is superb and much better than anything I could ever get out of a darkroom. Can highly recommend.

So far using Epson Premium Glossy and archival Matte. Haven't experimented with art type papers yet.

Hi Matt
I got a sample pack of epson worth papers last time I order some others. I use Ilford Smooth Pearl and Canson Rag Photographique and Platine Fibre Rag and Pro Canvas.
The smooth pearl and Platine are very similar I prefer the smooth pearl as the paper colour is a little bit whiter and it gives me some hue in the landscape whites.
I find it a great joy to print out a photo and hang it on the wall. I have a framed white board in the dining room and I put a print on that. I find this is for me a great way to see if I like over time.

So far I done two of the trip the first did not make past a week and half the second is looking good and had some good comments on it.

Living in a small abode has its problems (and positives). I printed a lot of stuff and alas, they’re still rolled up in the cupboard. Nowhere to hang them. There is however a great satisfaction in printing photos large.
