You might have known that I bought a Canon A1 recently. Well, my aunt bought what she thought was a crap camera at a News Ltd. internal sale of their gear as they shifted to completely digital... and it turned out that what she got for 5 bucks wasn't all that bad. In fact, it was everything but. She got... ![Image](http://leighlo.com/random/2009/images/09-NewOldGear/LeighsNewOldLens.jpg) ...a 35-70 f2.8 push-pull built like a frickin' tank. Feels like the 28-70. ![Image](http://leighlo.com/random/2009/images/09-NewOldGear/LeighsFE.jpg) ...a Nikon FE in surprisingly good condition, as well as a 24mm f2.8 with cracked rear-glass that only shows up at around f16 or higher, and an MD-12 battery grip that we can't seem to get working. For five bucks. So now, my classic cameras look a little like this: ![Image](http://leighlo.com/random/2009/images/09-NewOldGear/LeighsA1.jpg) ![Image](http://leighlo.com/random/2009/images/09-NewOldGear/LeighsNewCameras.jpg)

Leigh That 35-70 F2.8 lens is a very useful bit of kit.....and sharp once you've closed it down a stop or two!

What a great find there Leigh. I bet the FE and lens has taken some very prominent images through it's lifetime too! ![Thumbs Up ](./images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

Two or three lights, any lens on a light-tight box are sufficient for the realisation of the most convincing image. Man Ray 1935.

Maybe the news was limited, but the images, not? ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
