Geoff

Is it too late to add myself to the list? (if so that's cool)

I'll be coming down that day to see off Matt B & Sam with a drink or two before they return (for good  ) to England

Ok...for those who are coming (this Saturday October 21st) to the North Fort meet I would like to meet NO LATER than 11:45am. We will meet at the car park. Here are some directions from the website:

By Car: Follow Darley Road from Manly Village, up the hill keeping Manly Hospital on your right, then diverge right onto North Head Scenic Drive, through Parkhill Gateway and follow the blue and white signs to North Fort Road. Enter the grounds through the boom gate. Free car parking is available inside the grounds for visitors to the Museum and Cafe. (See Gregory's Sydney Map 289 & Inset)

By Bus: The State Transit Authority Route 135 bus runs occasional bus services from Manly Wharf to North Head Lookout via Manly Hospital, the Quarantine Station and North Fort on days when the Museum is open. The bus time table can be accessed at: http://www.sydneybuses.info

By Ferry: Catch the Manly Ferry at Circular Quay and join the Route 135 bus. The Manly Ferry timetable is at http://www.sydneyferries.info

Walking:
Take the Darley Road route (see By Car above) Come and experience this unique location and re-live the excitement of a once highly restricted army base.

Please bring your $11 entry fee, sunscreen, sunnies, hat, camera gear of course - and a sense of fun and adventure.

If you have not yet booked, PLEASE do so by completing the form which is available on the link on the front page of the forum. I need to know numbers to advise the tour guides.

Any queries please don't hesitate to to email or PM me.

For those going by Public Transport from the south - just checked the timetables.
Ferry from Circular Quay at 10:30am arrives at Manly at 11:00.
Bus departs Manly Wharf at 11:10 arrives Manly Hospital at 11:16.
Then need to walk down the road to North Fort.
Need to arrive by 11:45 as per Geoff's post.

We should be there still Paul, finishing off or with about 30 mins to go of the tour, depending on how fast we do it, and how often we stop to take images.

I just confirmed with the guy there that they are more than happy for us to stop along the way and take photos.

I haven't decided how I'm getting there yet :?

2 options as I see it:
- Take public transport (takes ages, not really sure if it will get me there, bus to the fort doesn't run at the right time, on the plus side - can drink with Matt ;) )
- Take car (know it should get me there, dry if it rains, somewhere to put gear afterwards - can't drink alcohol with Matt, but will still come along, need to find a park somewhere close to Matt's do  )

This is not an easy decision! How many others intending to take the ferry over? My decision may come down to a numbers thing (ie: if enough others are doing the ferry thing I might risk it too ;) )

Peter and I can pick up up to 8 (4 passengers each car)people (I assume) at Manly Wharf in our cars at 11:15am (leaves Circular Quay at 10:45am). if that helps. Just reply in this thread to request a pick up at Manly Wharf, first in best dressed.

OK - my hand is up for a lift from the Manly wharf. Need to clarify the Saturday timetable from Circular Quay - when I checked the other day I thought the departure time was 10:30 (didn't see the 10:45).
Got my fingers crossed for some reasonable weather. Cheers, Mick

hrmmm - depending on how the numbers stack up, this might be my preffered option - will wait and see how many people want rides :)

OK - Looks like there's not too many takers for the rides, so I might put my hand up too please :)

Oscar - I'll PM my mobile number if you want to get the same ferry as I do
