I'm in. I have a flight reserved from Canberra and will have a hotel booked today for Friday and Sat. Anyone that wants to shoot on Sat or have a "laugh at the Yank" day would certainly be welcome. I'd like some guidance on the best places to shoot, weather permitting.

At this stage, things look pretty good weather wise. A high pressure system should dominate, where we 'should' see some fine and mild temps. The models are not predicting rain, and temps 'should' be around 17C on Friday.

DISCLAIMER: This is my interpretation, therefore I am not to be held responsible if the weather turns crap!

I will update as we get a little closer to Friday! We are talking about Melbourne's weather........anything is possible!!

I may be a little late, so if someone could PM me their mobile number, so I can catch up with you if you are not at Fed Square, and in the event of major traffic delays!! Thanks! Otherwise, I will be there. I have Dad's 'heavy duty' tripod, not my crappy one! Looking forward to it!

I'm staying at the Holiday Inn on Spencer St. If the weather does turn bad or if you just want to drop some of your gear, you can use my room. I'll make sure I'm there about 5:30 in case anyone wants to come by.

Is there a particular place in Fed. Plaza to meet at 6:30?

I was thinking of meeting around the center of the square, just outside chocolate buddha and under the big screen.

The previous meeting we met at the café but since it's a Friday night and they will be serving dinner, etc, I dno't think we'd be able to waltz in as easily.

The good news is it's not going to rain but because of the clear skies it will get very cold tomorrow night! 17C during the day, but getting down to 6C overnight! Brrrrrr!

its beautifu today, took a short walk and almost had heat stroke!!

Does anybody have any ideas for dinner? I'm not sure what the preference is and I'm guessing when people show up, they'll be hungry

After dinner, wander down the back of Fed square, then head down towards Crown on Southbank side, but not going through Flinders Station this time.

Its a fair walk down there, perhaps drive and meet up again down neat telstra dome.

If no football is on there is plenty of free parking.

I've had a model fly into town on short notice and I need to have a pre shoot meeting with her. The only time available is tonight. Have a great shoot and we'll see you all at the next one and look forward to seeing some of the pics.

Well I have just got home from work in the city.

Got up this morning at 4am and I'm stuffed....have no fear though I will (with the better half) be still going tonight.

It was an excellent meet. I really enjoyed it. A big thank you to Wayne (PiroStitch) for taking the initiative to organising it. Dinner was superb also. Unfortunately we seem to have lost Dean and Mike midway somewhere, hope they had a good time where ever they ended up.

Birddog: Thank you for the batteries and charger and Genji (ThaI) thank you for delivering them to me.

Dean: Thank you for the "Next Venue" bag, it's fantastc. I now need to buy more gear to compensate for all those empty compartments.

Hope to see you all again soon.

Dean & I went where we thought the rest of you were going, to shoot the fire show at the Crown. We shot the city from several places along the water there and then perched on the bridge so we could take in a number of the towers (?). I used a 12mm and I think Dean was using 24mm, at least in the beginning. I got some keepers and a few of Dean's will be superb with that extra resolution. Some of the large flame ups blew the frame out but I did not want to stop down to far.

Good on you, Mike and Dean.

We never made it that far. We took time taking photos near Fed. Square and then crossed the road to take a few from the bridge, came down and took some more photos near the river and art centre. Following that, everyone felt pretty tired and we called it a night.

Have a good stay, Mike. Very nice to meet you.

Had a great meet. Good to meet you all. Mike and I got seperated from the rest of you at Fed Square and wandered down to Crown expecting to catch up with you all at the 10pm Flames. Anyhow, we got some good flame shots (to come). Hope you all had a good time and got some good shots.

Guilty Greg! I sent my apologies to Piro to pass on to everyone. I have pulled a muscle in my neck causing a headache, and didn't think it wise to be out in the cold. Tired and miserable too, so not pleasant company!

I'm looking forward to seeing the pics, and hopefully we can tee up another one during day light savings and get some dusk shots!

Not entirely happy with the colous. Working in aRGB in PS/CS this looks much more colourful. Assign sRGB then save as jpg realy zaps the colour. Had to add 15% saturation just to get this which is still not right. What am I doing wrong? May have to go back and read the colour management threads again.

Dean work in aRGB and keep your PSD file in aRGB. Then when you want to put it to the web, don't do assign but do convert and then use Save For Web.

I can't really notice any difference between the two now.

Wish I had my kit lens with me. Kind of found it hard to get what I wanted in the frame from the vantage points that we were using. Guess I'll have to go out again when I get it back.
