Not sure if anyone else is interested but Strobist Bootcamp is running again in June http://strobist.blogspot.com/2009/05/dr ... wenty.html Basically a series of exercises around understanding how to use off camera flash. Looks like there will be some prizes as well. I have been playing around with an off camera SB600 and really like the results. Bootcamp could be an excuse for some minimeets too. (and also an excuse to buy more gear ) So if anyone expresses interest I will update the thread as more information becomes available.D80, 50mm F/1.8, 18-70mm DX, Sigma 10-20mm

I'd love to join in. I had a go at doing the boot camp exercises first time round, but I discovered it after it closed & gave up fairly quickly. Minimeet sounds an interesting idea too. GregIt's easy to be good... when there is nothing else to do

I am in. I was recently seen at a family outing with a 430EX and an silver umbrella [part of Golden Eagle set] in one hand + camera in the other! I was told that I look absolutely ridiculous. The light was beautiful though. [Compared to crappy light that you tend to get during midday sun] The cricket shot was done at the same time. I got someone to hold the bare flash camera right.http://www.dslrusers.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=36172&p=385803&hilit=howzat#p385803

I have been chasing the kids around with a snoot made out of an All Bran box and a rubber band. The results are great.D80, 50mm F/1.8, 18-70mm DX, Sigma 10-20mm

Thanks for the reminder Whitey. This is going to be interesting, what with the prizes offered and all. Could be one of the biggest amateur contests on the net?

The Boot Camp Assignment has been announced here http://strobist.blogspot.com/2009/06/bo ... nment.html If anyone needs a mod el/reverse shooter in a pinch I'll volunteer (not that I'm out of work). Should be a good challenge.

Holy Carp, The first assignment is a head shot (times two). It's going to be interesting.
Does anyone know when it's due?

Craig, hope you find someone for your headshot. I think I will have to make do with anyone who is available when I have the time to do the shot.
