Postby Raydar on Wed Jun 08, 2005 10:05 am

Not shore if this has been posted before but here go’s.

I was just put onto this great little programme, Thanks Hillsrain!!
For those ho shoot in NEF + jpg STOP!!!
This little pro extracts the JPG out of the NEF file on your PC so now it’s easy as to get a JPG file from your NEF files quicker than batch processing.

Damn that is cool.

I was about to spend ages converting a couple of hundred photos for previewing for someone, but this did it in 10 secs.

Thanks Raydar

Excelent program

i have been shooting in just raw last month or so and this will make it very easy to quickly look at the pics as say a slide show and as mentioned above leave more room on the card for raw pics

I've had this proggie for a while. It's what I use to check my shutter count. Pretty useful.

Great link, thanks Raydar. BTW, has anyone used or tested FixNEF or compared it to results obtained from NC?

Open the image in Nikon Capture
Go to the white Balance tool box, in the top drop down list there is set Gray point, click on this.
Now click on start, & find some thing in the image that is close to 50% grey & take a sample. Now there will be a red & Blue value.
Copy & past them into the fields in FixNEF, that's it!!!

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Ok, but what if you don't have NC? Does anyone know how to do this on CS/CS2?

Yeah mate

For CS
Bring up the image & the color pallet, grab the eyedropper from the tools pallet & take a sample of a grey area from the image you should see the values on the Right of the color pallet.

Did anyone else have to install other DLL to get Preview Extractor to work. I'm running WinXP SP1.

I had to track down
- mfc71.dll
- MSVCP71.DLL
- msvcr71.dll

Then it worked fine.

On the up side, I didn't need gdiplus.dll
