Storm whistle purchase

Postby Matt. K on Wed Oct 15, 2008 10:04 pm

Photographers get out and about fairly often. That's one of the attractions of the activity. We go night shooting, get off the beaten path, bush walking, we snoop around and follow our instincts. The storm whistle is made in the USA and is reputably the loudest whistle on earth. They are not expensive....$5.50 US or so and they should be as vital a part of your camera kit as a small first aid kit. If you fall and get injured, or get lost in the dark or the scrub....if you get threatened by creeps in a back alley...the whistle could literally save your life. If any members are interested in a group buy then let me know via this post and I'll arrange the purchase after getting a postage costing. The link to the product is below. If anyone is going to the USA in the near future perhaps we could arrange a pickup and save some dough.
Cheers

Is this a group buy? If it is, put my name down for one. $5.50 USD for a possible life saving device, it's worth it.

I personally believe that this whistle would be ideal for use in crowded bars when you are ignored by the person serving :cheers:

Andre, I stopped work at about 7 this morning to have a coffee with my wife and watch the news, dollar was .65, had another coffee at 8 and it was .675! Of course last night I went to bed slightly happy we were at .70, that wore off quickly! Unusual times we are living in.

I'm definitely in for about 5-6 - I have a few friends for whom these would be great gifts. I'll get final numbers back into this thread once I know a deadline for the order.

I notice that you can make alternate arrangements for the product packaging (ie without the blister pack/hard card, just in a bag with tag) - I wonder if that option would make the parcel smaller and therefore shipping a little cheaper?

And I suspect the Aussie dollar will go lower still. It has to - I've just changed a heap of foreign currency I've been sitting on for a year or so, so Murphy's Law says... :roll: :lol:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ETA order specifics - Could I please have:
2 x black Storm
3 x orange Storm
2 x black Windstorm
1 x orange Windstorm
Total of 8. Heh. :lol:
I think you've just solved the exchange rate riddle Glen - if we want the AUD to go higher we need to drink more coffee! I, for one, am doing my bit today - need it, am spending today and tommorrow in SAP design workshops ;)
Coffee led recovery would be nice, with all the stressed out people in the world coffee, chocolate and cigarettes will surely sell well.
