It's also an awful lot of printing and framing costs for our donors (not to mention the time in organising this! - a HUGE thanks to them and a hope that they are not feeling they shouldn't have offered!

Please guys, if you are feeling this is too much, let us know - I am sure we would all be willing to make a contribution towards costs.

I am actually keen to be the purchaser of my print, but I won't be able to go to the event of course... but if it doesn't sell then i'd be happy to take first refusal...

A wonderful effort pon the part of everyone involved thus far.

Obviously, the image donors.

Oz_Beachside, who brought this to our attention, handled the initial dialogs with the organisers, will be taking care of getting the images mounted and off to the organisers.

MHD, for organising the galley. Er, gallery. :)

And Padey for taking up the printing of the images.

A great big round of applause to all of you.

On Justin's comment, and on the chance that perhaps some of the images might not be sold, what's the situation in that regard, please, Oz?

In the case of images not sold, the organisers intend to hold a post exhibit sale of some kind. I guess they want to keep the cost consistent for the exhibition, and then auction reminders at a charity event afterwards.

Many thanks for the great images all!

Next up, planning the opening night. I intend to post pics of your exhibits, to share in the support we have all offerred.

Thanks to everyone for the work that's gone into this. It's certainly a great cause and also a great PR shot-in-the-arm for the forum and the talented and generous people we have here.

I'm happy to contribute to the costs also. Perhaps a few pieces of eight to Scott for galley upkeep....

Good evening all

Tomorrow I pic up the prints from the post office, and take them to get mounted.

The organisers have changed the mount requirements, and now want them on foam core backing, so will cost me about $10 each more to mount, but I am happy to make the donation.

If anyone is interested in helping towards mount costs, please just PM me.

I'll keep you updated, and thanks for your continued suuport.

Opening Night (celebs, dignatories, etc) is Nov 16. Oopen for about 10 days (NOT open the weekend).

This may line up with the Melbourne Portrait workshop, but still to be firmed up.

Just going through the prints, and I dont know which ones to buy myself :D

The images look GREAT in print.

I have a question to those with submissions...

The prints are in the size specified by you, in your files image size. So some are printed at nearly the full 400x500, some are approx 8x10, and two are 4x6.

For mounting, we need to make some decisions, and I would appreciate your input as a group.

For the images close to 400x500, I am thinking to block mount on foam core board, with no matt.

Others near 8x10, I am thinking to mount with a matt board 400x500(colors as PM'd), on foam core board.

But the two at 4x6, may be too small inside matt of 400x500??? THese are 1. Manta's "Em's Eye" and 2. craigvtr's "Sunset Over Fair Isle". Would you like these reprinted to 8x10 ish?

PLEASE HELP, as I need to get to the framers this weekend.

OZ - do the organisers have a stipulation for this? - ie did they want all prints to look 'equal' in size overall - and did they stipulate that the prints must be matted? Sorry - but just getting it clear

no, the images can be "any" size, provided the total "exhibit" size is 400x500.

So technically we can matt a 4x6 in a matt of 400x500.

I think your suggestions make sense bar the 2 small ones which should be at Simon & Craig's discretion.

What do you suggest OZ? The original TIFF is 17.2mb, 3008x2000px @ 300dpi. I can size it to whatever you think's best. Sorry - haven't had a lot of experience in this area...

hi Manta,

I have ordered on today in matte 8"x12" so if you are happy with that, lets see how it somes out?

Its your final decision, but your image is great, and I'd love to see it larger than 4x6 (especially considering the foundation are trying to sell it for a charitable donation of $350).

Your call, perhaps I'll let your know how it looks in 8x12?

regards,
Oz

Our 29 images (SAVING THE SIGHT OF 203 PEOPLE!!!!) are with the framers now for mounting, and I am excited about getting them back, ready for the exhibition. When I get the prints, I intend to take a pic of each of them, so that those unable to attend the exhibition at the gallery can at least see their work.

Thanks to so many for their generous offers to not only contribute with an image, but also support towards the printing and mount costs.

Thanks once again for your valuable support. :D :D :D :D

I'm terribly sorry for replying so late to this, but Oz count me in for the $20 too mate.
As with everyone else, let me know how you'd like to receive the money.

I'm also upset that I'm not going to be able to make the event as I'm leaving in a little over a week so a photo of how it looks would be great mate.

Thanks for all your work on this, and also to all involved.

Cheers
Matt

thank you.

I've sent an email to all registered entrants. It was sent a few hours ago, and I have had problems with my virus protection bloacking my emails.

Can you let me know if it has made it via PM?

thanks
