EOI - Sydney "Hunt & Shoot" exercise

Postby losfp on Fri Jun 30, 2006 11:50 am

The Queenslanders are doing this on July 29 - http://www.dslrusers.net/viewtopic.php?t=18334 - See Manta's post for a brief overview of the concept. Basically a photography scavenger hunt.

Anyone in our fair city keen on doing something similar? Sometime in July/August... I think it'd be a lot of fun :)

Looks like no one picked up my subtle hint :(

This actually sounds like fun. I may be interested. I just can't plan too far in advance at the moment due to my roster at work.

HUH ? Ok I had posted a reply here saying I was definitely keen, but it aint here, so I'll do it again. Des I'd be keen but it all depends on the day in question as to if I'm available.

Ah well, the website obviously had a minor hiccup, Craig!!

Well, I'm going to go ahead and propose a date (it's just too hard to please everyone, so I'll suggest one, and only change it if NO ONE likes it! :) )

How about Saturday 15th July?

Rules (to be finalised before the date)
---------------------------------------

- To be held between 9am and 1pm on Saturday 15th July
- 10 categories, you can submit one photo per category
- You can take a TOTAL of 20 photographs - file numbering (must be 20 consecutive file names) and EXIF data will help to support this
- You can wander off in groups, or individuals. Your choice.
- Meet at 8:45 at (SOMEWHERE, maybe Circular Quay or Darling Harbour?)
- You can journey as far as you feel like by foot or public transport, but you must be back at the meeting point at 1pm, where your entries will be collected, and we adjourn for some sort of lunch.
- Your entries will be uploaded sometime that weekend when I could be bothered, for public acclaimation and adoration.
- No prizes or winners, this will eliminate unfair advantages gained by the talented ones ;)
- Photographers are encouraged to PP and post their own photos afterwards if they want to.

The Brisbanites are planning to meet somewhere afterwards and display the photos on a projector.. Anyone care to suggest how we might do that? Otherwise it will just have to be uploaded later :)

Probably not. I expect it will be just on a laptop screen.

Ours is on July 29. Why don't you do yours on the same day?

Selfish reasons. I will be in Port Stephens, sunset shooting over the sand dunes :)

I suppose alternative dates are Sat 22nd July, or Sat 5th Aug (but I am unsure if that will clash with AW activities)

At the moment I can't do the 15th, but I'll check with my Boss...
unless you did it around Pyrmont that is then maybe it would work.. but let me confirm with my boss and get back to you.

We could make it a mini challenge for the Ferry Tour, a list of 10-20 things you have to shoot (probably best without the restriction of only taking a limited number of shots).

Used to do these about 10 years ago with a bunch of mates, but nothing as formal as suggested. They were basically scavenger hunts, but with a looong list of stuff to find and take a photo of. Usually took the whole day, and a bit of getting around/lateral thinking to try to get the whole list checked off.

Great fun.

Well I'm booked on the Ferry Trip, hopefully will be cheaper then another visit to Birddog's home base ;) So I'd definitely be keen and I'd say it would make a fun supplement to the Ferry Event, perhaps we can get someone who won't be attending to compile the list (Simon probably already had some good ideas if they can be "Sydneyified" that could work ?) as long as Manta's not coming down ??
