Next Get Together

Postby W00DY on Tue Sep 21, 2004 9:13 am

Ok, since the initial "settling" period is almost over for my new born when's the next Sydney D70 Get Together???

I have been unlucky to miss the first 2 so am keen to get out and meet you guys and take a few photos.

Also a good time as there are now a few new members from Sydney who might be keen.

Any suggestions on dates / times / places???

Cheers,

W00DY

If I'm not mistaken, that's the Saturday of the long weekend. Is a Saturday better than a Sunday ?

What's the footy outlook for that weekend?

When we were at Ramsgate, a few people suggested Lane Cove National Park as a venue; thoughts y'all?

And yes, regardless of the day, afternoon, methinks.

next meet?

Postby Geoff on Tue Sep 21, 2004 10:45 am

I was saying the saturday as I have to work the Sunday..for 12 hours too so I'd definately not be able to make it if it's a Sunday (the 3rd)..as far as football..I don't follow footy so I don't give a stuff..hehe. For me, the 17th is the next Sunday I'd be free, but that's only me. I just would love to be at the next meet.

That's why I was asking, as Leigh works on Saturdays, although if this is during his mid term break, he mightn't mind too much losing a few $$$.

Hell, who knows; if I'm feeling really energetic, I might even wander down to the fish markets one Saturday and buy some fish and make some sushi; it's been far too long since I last did that.

Saturdays are good for me until the footy finishes :)

If we are going for the 2nd then the grand final is on the Sunday 3rd of October and then the Monday is a public holiday.

The 2nd is fine with me and Lane Cove is very good, quick trip down the M2 and I'm there :)

Smart thinking Mj. Just tell her its Helmut Newton this month and he is going to show you how to make her look like one of his models. :D

Or mate just tell her you are going to Bunnings Artarmon where any good renovator spends half his weekend. She wont know the difference (and we can pick you by your overalls)

Who knows their way around the park and can suggest a suitable meeting/picnic/bbq location?

And that all important facet - what time, peoples? 2pm ??

Cool. Looking forward to it. Anytime in the afternoon is fine with me, 2pm sounds good.

I am not to familar with the park however I believe if you follow the round around the hill there are some picninc spots which are a little out of the way. Not sure how good they are though.

Sigh,

It's looking likely that I'll be stuck in the garden of hell on Saturday and no suggestion of an urgent trip to the hardware is going to provide a reprieve!!!

It's been years since I've been to Lane Cove Park. I seem to recall that I may have even had a Mini Moke in those days, which makes it around 30 years ago.

That's a long way of saying that I haven't got a clue, but my mobile number is 0400 817 042 and you'll be able to call me on that number if, percahnce, you become misplaced within the park.

With the construction going on next to the park I believe there is only one entrance / Exit... Which also means there is only one road in and out.

If you drive in and follow the road aroudn the hill you will see different picnic spots along the river. Why don't we plan to meet at the first one (if it is not taken).

This is down near the corner of Lady Game Drive and Deli Rd. The entrance is on Lady Game Drive.

HOWEVER.... Unfortunatly I have pulled all the muscles in my neck last night and at the moment am unable to move my neck, so my attendance is not looking good :(

I WILL make it to one of these meets one day though :?

12:15pm - overcast but there's been no rain for quite a while. I'm in Castlecrag at the moment, so it's not too far from the park, but if the weather holds as it is right now, should be great lighting for people pix.
