Photographing flying insects using laser triggers

Postby Luke Smith on Mon Aug 22, 2005 12:16 pm

I couldnt see this posted elsewhere... so here goes-

http://users.skynet.be/fotoopa/laser_module1_E.htm

It's basically using a laser beam as a trigger for the shutter release. Focus where the laser beam is and then go near some flying insects, as they break the beam the camera takes a nice in-focus macro shot of your flying insect.

Fairly neat :)

I got this link from my favorite blog - http://www.cynical-c.com/

Cheers,

Luke

Omg, I just read further. I think he's used MLU plus an external shutter? Correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't read anything about MLU yet but if he's using an external shutter wouldn't he have to lock up the camera mirror/shutter?
