An announcement from Skype; this may be of interest to some of you

Just an FYI for some nice news coming to the weekend, Skype will enable free WiFi access at over 100,000 hotspots worldwide this coming weekend (20-21 March 2010). The free WiFi access is valid from 08:00:00 Saturday March 20, 2010 till 07:59:00 Monday March 22, 2010.

This free WiFi access will be available to mark the full launch of Skype Access, which was introduced by Skype during the launch of its latest Windows 4.2 version. The feature enables users to get WiFi access using Skype credit with a single click! This allows people to now surf the web, email and make free Skype-to-Skype voice and video calls at a massive network of WiFi hotspots in cafés, hotels and airports worldwide without having to go through the hassle of credit cards and multiple login hassles for WiFi networks.

During this weekend, SkypeAccess will be completely free to use from anywhere in the world. All that is needed is a connection to a Skype Access compatible hotspot and the latest version of Skype for Windows 4.2 which can be downloaded from www.skype.com/go/download

Australian travelers around the world who are stuck in transit at airports or are impacted by the industrial action by British Airways cabin crew can now stay online free to work, adjust holiday bookings or better still, make a free video call home to the family with Skype.

Skype Access is provided by WiFi hotspot operators around the world. For a complete list of compatible WiFi networks visit: http://bit.ly/9OreVE
