I've seen the photographers at Hamilton Island and they are basically taking pictures of tourists at all the lookout points and handing them tickets so the can buy the images at the local fuji shop.
They all had Canon gear and where constantly zooming around the island on the golf buggy's.
Didn't look a great job from my point of view as you couldn't really be creative in this role. It would be good if you could do your own shots off the beaten track.
Here's some images from my time up there

Yeah I saw some of those on my recent trip and thought it would be a good job, however you are mostly taking photos of the tourists hoping that they would come into the shop and buy them.

The photographers were doing portrait shots up One Tree Hill at sunset too and he did get a chance to get some (as it turns out, pretty average) sunset shots.

It would be great for someone who just wanted to chill out and have fun.

The photographers were also wading out into the water to get shots in the outrigger canoe race.

One plus would possibly be getting the chance to partake in the Ken Duncan photography tour that they had up there earlier this month.

It would be a great job for about a year or so. Definitely not a career.
