Finally FX

With everyone getting new bodies, I think that separate section for you to proudly display your first image from your new acquisition is in order.

This applies to brand new bodies, as well as bodies that are simply newly acquired by you.

Not a great image, but I couldn't wait until I found something to take a photo of.

nice stuff Cam, I am sure you will make good use of it. I guess your 300 is gonna gather some dust now.

Yes....three cameras....whatever was on hand for the unboxing (Nikon J1), then I needed a touch of CLS for the close up (D300) and well the new FX..... Shame the J1 doesnt have a macro + CLS compatibility.....

I think all my cameras are gathering dust at the moment...this new FX and the J1 will come on my trip (leaving tomorrow) with me whilst the 300 will stay at home. I am sure I will still use the D300....it is just the S5 that will see even less use I guess.

I could do with a third camera. I may end up taking my D70 (along with the D300 and D7000) on a weekend dive trip in April.

Sure. It still takes the same quality of pictures it took 5 years ago - maybe even better because my skills have improved. :P

Rubbish. All your D70 photos turned to crap as soon as its successor came out. That's what the Internet tells us.

Adrian,

I have always planned to go to FX for the better availability of wide angle lenses and for the better low light performance. I love my D300 very much still, but the D700 gives me something that is able to shoot in extreme low light conditions and give me ultra wide angle (which I never invested in for DX).

I went with a D700 as it suited my desires more than the unobtainable D800, and I have not regretted that choice at all. I probably could ditch all my other cameras as the extra 1.5x crop factor does not do anything for me most of the time.

This was shot in a Museum, hand held, ISO Hi2, f/2.8, 1/13 sec

Hand held, ISO 3200, f/4, 1/40 sec

Both shots would have been impossible with my D300 under the same conditions.
