Challenge 7: Movement

Postby MHD on Fri Sep 30, 2005 5:43 pm

Ok HERE we GO!
It is time for another two round Challenge... First the Theme, I received this from Radar:
The theme for Challenge 7 is Movement. The submitted photo should depict movement. As a good example, see a past POTW of 31.05.05. But don't let that example restrict you, be imaginative

Dictionary definitions for movement, just to be safe in terms of interpretation :D

(1) : the act or process of moving; especially : change of place or position or posture (2) : a particular instance or manner of moving.
Merriam-Webster Online

This will be a two stage comp..
Entrants can submit an entry to both or one of the galleries... Getting your act together and submitting an entry to both gives you two bites of the proverbial pie

Now for the timeline:
Image Valid from: The date this post is posted :) (SET YOUR CAMERA CLOCKS)
Gallery 1 submit open: Monday 10th October
Gallery 1 close Gallery 2 open: Monday 31st October
Gallery 2 close voting commences: 11:59pm Sunday November 20th
Voting close: Monday noon December 5th
Winner is announced at the Xmas dinner on December 9th

Now get MOVING!

Hi Adam,

ie; can I take multiple images and blend them to arrive at a final product? ... obviously in keeping with the theme.

the anonymity clause isnt really THAT strict i dont think, its a little pedantic / redundant. I mean, this is hardly highschool, and theres hardly any good / bad blood going on in these forums, and at the end of the day, its often easy to tell whos someone pic is by lifestyle ... but conversely every time ive said that, ive just about got it wrong !!

ive won 5th in a comp before and a few knew the photo ... but then i dont know anyone in real life from here so its hardly benefitial in any case. (and hey it was a good piece dammit ! :) ) (mine had been in the newspapers)

a photo should be judged on its merits, not whether its owner is known or not.

fwiw i think its a negative if other sknow your image as theyve already seen it, been awe-struck by it (or whatever) and gotten over it ... the 2nd time around theyre probably not as excited by it, less chance of a high vote. *shrugs*

According to the first post in this thread:

Image Valid from: The date this post is posted Smile (SET YOUR CAMERA CLOCKS)

That tells me that images can be from any time after that post... so images for the second part could have been taken during the first part.

To clarify: Image valid dates are independant to the submission gallery opening dates...
Image Valid from: Fri Sep 30, 2005 4:43 pm (SET YOUR CAMERA CLOCKS)

So as long as the image was taken after that time it is valid for either part... except that part 1 has closed...
