Postby Glen on Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:01 pm

Final 2008 Challenge! Starts Now - All Welcome

The final 2008 Challenge is going to be a 2 part challenge with the first part now completed, and the second part now open and running to the end of the month (Nov 30). The theme for the first part was "My favourite thing". The theme for the second part is Saying Goodbye. Part 2 will run the whole of November. If you haven't entered before please do, it is easy, fun and challenging. Two photos, how hard can it be? This year there will be a veritable flotilla of prizes, provided by Servaas Products, HKSupplies & Wolf Eyes Torches.

First prize will be a Maha Powerex MH-C9000 AA battery Charger Analyser with either two packs of the Low Self Discharge Imedion AA batteries or High Capacity 2700 mah Powerex AA batteries , a perfect choice for any photographer who uses a flash. Second prize is the Maha Powerex MH-C204W Travel Charger and prize winners choice of a pack of Imedion or Powerex batteries. Third prize is a 2 level Wolf Eyes Defender rechargeable torch and fourth prize is an Angel AA LED torch. Fifth and onwards prizes are being allocated now from Poon's compelling products, based on the last challenge it looks like every entrant will win a prize!

This is a challenge of participation, all members are welcome. All full members are eligible for prizes. Entry Fee the same as always - Entry Free. It would be nice to see some entries from some of our more remote members we don't get to see face to face so often.

This challenge will have no post processing restrictions and will be judged by a panel of esteemed members. The email address to send entries to is challenges@dslrusers.net. Prize winners will be announced at the Christmas BBQ on December 13th.

Silly question, I am sure, but what happens if your favourate thing gives away your identity to the judges?

Hey guys what is the best way of getting a login to submit my photos? I tried last time and I never got a login.

I am interested in taking up one (if not both) of these challenges.

Please make sure that in your entry you include your username, so we know whom to blame. Er, I mean, to whom to award the prizes.

And please, while file and image sizes are open, please also keep them reasonable. :)

I haven't yet finalised the judging panel, but that's not an issue. I just set up the access, and give the access to the account to someone else.

makario wrote:do we need to make sure the exif information doesnt contain the photog name?

No. Leave it in if you wish. We have enough confidence in the judges to not look at this stuff.

THis is getting a bit difficult as we have packed most of our favourate things. I may have to take a quick and nasty shot of a remaining speciman before it is packed up until Saturday!

They need to be judged first, and that's not scheduled to happen till after part two closes.

Just to clarify, (in case I need to) only those with an entry in part 2, but no entry in part 1, will be eligible for this additional prize.

Everyone is eligible for all of the other prizes, of course. :)

A whole month isn't enough time for someone to take a photo of say their own hand waving good bye?

But to get the full effect you need a REEEEAAAAALLLLY slow shutter speed.

Mozzie, huge latitude. The judges are usually sophisticated individuals with wide life experience (geez I am greasing them up) and usually can see most interpretations. If it needs a 2,000 word essay to see - the idea is probably a bit wide of the mark.
