Thanks everyone and especially to Poon for offering such a great prize and incentive to excel in this challenge.

I really enjoyed playing around with ideas for this challenge. My first idea was to use a prism and recreate Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side Of The Moon' album cover, but i couldn't find a prism in time. I then married two of my hobbies, painting and photography and came up with 'Paint It Black.'

I am still surprised I won a photography comp and especially with a painting :)

Congrats to Simon too. I thought yours was very good. Actually, i think all entries were very good in their own ways.

Thanks again!!!!
Steve.

Well - that's certainly an unexpected surprise! Thank you everyone for voting.

Congratulations Steve - I knew yours would do very well. There were some good shots and interesting interpretations in this comp so it's good to see the Challenges remain just that - challenging!

Thanks to Poon and Glen for the prize donations and to Scott for his usual hard work behind the scenes. Wouldn't happen without you all.

As is often the case with me, inspiration waited 'til the last minute to arrive (closing day). I got two ideas in quick succession but decided to go with the first one that popped into my head, trusting instinct I suppose. The second one would have been interesting but maybe not from a photographic point of view: A group of grubby mechanics gathered around the engine bay of a car, each drinking from a crystal glass and instead of a carton of beer on the ground nearby, a case of Grange or similar. Eskimo Joe's "Black Fingernails, Red Wine". Lame, eh! Best I went with the first one!

:)
