ASHES

Postby Killakoala on Thu Sep 15, 2005 11:36 pm

Ashes - Back where they belong. :)

Better luck next time Ponting & Co.

Again, England has a team that can compete evenly or better with the colonies. It's been a long time waiting.

I am really looking forward to the next Ashes series, in Australia. It should be a corker.

Steve - being a UK correspondent on this forum i decided i'd not mention this one to directly!!!

OK - i'm 12,000 miles away from getting a slap off most people on here but it may be i want to visit Down Under again in the future, in safety. :D :D

In all seriousness though fair play to both sides, its been a long time since i've seen such good cameradery / sportsmanship in any such sporting event.

Got a couple of mates saving to come over there for the next series........
in the beginning was the word, and the word was Aardvark......

That's right! They have never been allowed to leave the MCC, allegedly for reasons of safety. But I've just seen Michael Vaughan waving the urn around like a madman, being showered with champagne, beer and other assorted detritus. :D

On the cricket side, England thoroughly deserved to win back the trophy - they have played much better cricket than the Australian side, at least for Tests 2 through 5.

And, world cricket is much better off with a team that can take the challenge to the Australian team.

The return series out here will indeed be a humdinger.
