The 11 area AF points look different to the D2X, I think it looks more squashed in.

When I attempt to go to the Tech Specs the site returns an error message. Is this happening for you guys also?

it's interesting that they have not input any text into each of the "key features".

You'd think they'd finish it off before releasing it to the world.

Maybe they did it just to tease their customers.....

Yep, they're the error messages.

According to CBA ForEx the price is certainly very reasonable.

Yes, the website may be unprepared but if normal Nikon gestation periods are anything to go by it will all be well in place long before stocks are available.

The Flash file is using containers from those links, so it's likely they're updating it gradually.

$3900 is outrageous for that and pardon me for thinking that using the Sony 10 mp CCD is piss weak, even if it is facing off against the 20D.

At $3900, it's not targeting the 20D and Nikon are missing the point in regards to being able to compete with the Canon 5D.

Someone get me a sack of waterballoons... we need to wake the R&D team at Nikon up!

Nothing changes at Maxwells, it would seem.

At that price, it'll be cheaper to buy an airfare to LA or HK and buy one there, taking a small holiday into the bargain.

But with only 10MP, if you already have a D70, why would you even bother? There would need to be something exciting in the rest of the specs to make this a true winner.

Nikon is sliding their camera models inbetween Canon cameras.

AUD3900 is steep but for USD1699 is quite easy to swallow for what you are getting.

Relax guys!!!!!!
I'm sure, you'll see its price tag around AU$3k, when it's fullfilled and products more available on the shelves.

Of course HKG or US market are lot of cheaper.

John,

When I've bought 80-400VR from Mr.Poon for about $1800, Maxwell's RRP was $3500 :)

John,

That depends upon the level of magnification they employ. If they go the way of the D70, it'll be woefully inadequate. If they take the D2x train, then it will be quite useful.

Price of it will be in the range of the D100 at the time of its released.
Not surprised me at all! Nikon does not want to loose the sales of the D2x, their flag ship model.
If they have 12MP in the D200, the sales of the D2x will be negative.

3 grand is still too much for that, Birdy.

The price point it should come in at Australia should be around $2500 for it to be a logical conversion.

10 mp and a CCD compared with a CMOS?

C'mon Nikon. Go fish.

Look at the D2x from HKG or US market's prices and comparing with local stock in Australia, It's $7150.00 from ECS or other, while HKS or other sellers sell them around $5500.00
People still preferred to buy local stock instead of.

They need a new flagship model announced by the next major photo expo or they will lose sales.
Having a full-frame camera released by their main competitor at a lesser price point than their flagship camera will not bode well for them as it is.

They're going to need a D3 or a new naming system if they separate the APS and FF sensor based cameras.

If they have 12MP in the D200, the sales of the D2x will be negative.

At that price with only a 10mp CCD, there better be some amazing features that make it wholly unique or else the sales of the D200 will be negative.

Well , lets wait and see some raw images from the camera to evaluate ourselves.

I hope that just puting the Nikon badge on the side along with D200 is not all the development they have done.

Still looks cool also.

No mention of any new lenses??? Or did I miss that.

You haven't gone to bed yet!
Put thing aside and have a quick nap!

Hey, as I joked in the last few days in one of the thread on this board, with the D200/ 4MP and D70 with 6MP.
Will you trade? :?:

Yes, wait and see, lot of fans will take the D200, don't be so surprised!

The only product that is anywhere interesting is the new flash (SU-800) IMO. 18-200VR f/3.5 to f/5.6 - a prosumer lens

And also there're lot of disapointed fans who are wishing the D200 with 12MP and other features so they had put their stop in buying the D2x.

What sensor is this, Birdy?

I just went back through the news archives and the Sony was a 10.8 CMOS.

Since this is a 10.2 CCD, this isn't the Sony.
