Picture Of The Week - January 3, 2006

Each week, one of the moderators or administrators selects an image that, for whatever reason, catches their eye. Please feel free to add your comments here. Vigorous discussion of the images and techniques is welcome and encouraged. Criticism of any mod for their choice is not. Please note that this is "Picture of the Week"; do not confuse that with "best picture of the week", which is a concept of which we have no understanding.

Picture Of The Week - January 3, 2006

Postby Nnnnsic on Tue Jan 03, 2006 12:24 pm

Wow. There have been so many shots over the past week that deserve this spot... which is the few POTW of the new year!!!

And I'm giving to someone who not only hasn't ever gotten one before, but has only posted one thing.

Ever.

I don't think someone with one post has actually gotten it before.

This week's Picture Of The Week goes to Macman with this image:

Image

What I love about this image is how it first looked to me like sparks going off over something and then how it slowly came to look like a beautiful little shot of a waterbed of sorts.

The colour is just really beautiful to look at in this image.

Well done, Macman.

Well done Macman!
1/1 I record no other has held before, and a tough ask for anyone in the future... it is a image that grows on you the more you look... as first I thought it was fireworks.. but then noticed the leaf, and then things started to become clearer...

Great choice Leigh! I've been swamped with work and social engagements so totally missed this post the first time.

This is why I love POTW. I missed this one of yours Paul and thanks to Leigh I have now seen it. This is a great shot for reasons already discussed. Congratulations.

It is a beautiful image. I like the touch of Monet it has with the soft pastel colours of nature.

Well done Macman, well deserved. Good choice Leigh.

Thanks everyone,

Really pleased you liked the picture.

This is another from the set. I didn't post this intially because the reflection was a bit obvious. I liked the one I posted becaused it wasn't immediatey obvious what it was.

I totally agree, and I don't envy whoever has to make the choice. The choice you've made this week is a splendid one, IMHO.

Maybe, to ease the pain of selection a bit, you could introduce an "honorable mention" type of thing for another three or so runner-up pix, without front-page display, but with links to the respective threads...?

The posting volume here is huge and sometimes overwhelms me. I'd hate to miss really good shots.

Cheers
Steffen.

Nah. A lot of the times, there is no honourable mention.

The problem for me is it's sooooo hard for me to make a decision about anything... I had 4 or 5 different choices it came down to this week.

This was the one I went with.
