Anniversary Weekend

Postby gstark on Sun May 08, 2005 2:12 pm

Progress is being made on the organisation of this event, and if you're not Sydney-based, then booking your air transport now, while fares are cheap, would be a good idea. Please remember that we planning this as a family weekend too, so wives, boyfriends, lovers, and kids are all going to be welcome.

Last night we dined with Birddog's family at Mancini's in Belfield, which is where we'll be holding the presentation dinner on the night of Saturday August 6. I was very pleasantly surprised with everything about this place, but especially the food, and the room that we'll be occupying.

This night promises to be a stunning evening, with the announcement of the winners and the presentation of the prizes from our Challenge #5. The room we are taking only holds about 80 people, so it's going to be first in, best dressed.

The cost is expected to be just $28.50 per head; the rest of you body gets to attend for free! Kids are just $14, btw.

There will also be a welcome dinner for all on the prior night (August 5), at the same location that we held our Christmas function in December last. Birddog will be posting a few more details on this in the next week or so.

At this time we are opening bookings for both of these events. We need names and numbers for the Friday, and names and number for the Saturday. Please email Anniversary@d70users.com with your details so that we can start taking reservations.

G'day,

Booked the flight, can't wait to catch up and meet a lot of the people that have freely provided very helpful advice, gonna be fun!

Just one question, I downloaded a pdf a while ago about the meet d70usersForumAnniv.pdf), and there was a deal about including two nights accomodation at a motel, contributions towards van hire, etc. how do we go about booking in for that? Is that still available?

Cheers,
Mudder

Edit: Just found the thread about "Hotel Formule 1" Doh! In the process of booking now... :D

Just looking at the Formule 1 web site and it seems they aren't taking bookings for August yet (only shows may, June & July). Has anyone actually booked?

i have been in correspondence with muriel from formula 1 at enfield, she has stated she can reduce the daily rate to $64 per room, ($69 normally) provided that 18 rooms are booked and that they currently have vacancies for 5 and 6 aug.

This is good sign if all the delegates can stay in one place and we can share all transportation to/ from the venues.
An optional is hiring a car and share with other during your stays.
Friday afternoon is normally very busy at Sydney airport after 3:00pm and roads from the airport to extended area, so arriving in the morning or early afternoon is a good choice.

Perhaps we 'In-towners' will be missing out on something! All this staying in the one place perhaps we should have had it a Country Retreat somewhere so we could justify staying there as well!

Looking forward to this one BIG time. Anyone need a hand with anything, let me know :)

Sheepie,
I need your help by organising the banners display in both venue.
I also need someone to look after the DJ and PA (I have one) for both evenings, (need to discuss).
I need few volunteers with car or van, who can help members from & to the airport, venues.

I like a lot of things, Birdy... we'll just have to see, eh?

I got kicked out of one of my drawling classes last year by the teacher for telling him his music sucked (it was Pakistani chanting... who wants that when drawing naked people?! He got it right one time when he let a student bring in some Thelonious...)

Drawling class? Is that a typo or a very obtuse country & western pun

And I didn't know country or western were music (but what would I know - I have cats  )

Like that's going to happen anytime soon.

I'm still waiting for the World Square project (started in the 70s, I think) to finish.
