What is PP??

Newer members often state that they think their question is too basic, or stupid, or whatever, to be posted. Nothing could be further further from the truth in any section at DSLRUsers.com, but especially here. Don't feel intimidated. The only stupid question is the one that remains unasked. We were all beginners at one stage, and even the most experienced amongst us will admit to learning new stuff on a daily basis. Ask away! Please also refer to the forum rules and the portal page

What is PP??

Postby Neeper on Thu Jan 13, 2005 10:09 am

I see it everywhere. I am sure it has something to do with digital manipulation. But what exactly does PP stand for? I have figured it out yet.

Post proccessing...

The most common action is to adjust the levels which is akin to changing the development time for an under exposed shot.

Other actions could be white ballance, sharpening etc....

If you see it written in the context of Nikon PP software, then it's referring to Picture Project - that useless piece of software that came bundled with the camera. Nikon View is a much better (still free) alternative to Picture Project, available for download on Nikon support sites.

okay.. time for some bad humour...

PP is something you patiently teach your children to do in the potty for a couple of years...
