Mini-meet 3rd September...

Postby leek on Sat Sep 03, 2005 9:12 pm

Well today's mini-meet delivered as usual...
Apart from the great hospitality... great food / drink... we also had a lot of fun...

Personally I had a little play with my close-up filters, introducing the concept to a couple of people along the way...
Attached to my 50mm 1.4 lens, they turn it into a very nice Macro lens...
<table><tr><td width=30%>Image </td><td width=30%>Image </td><td width=30%>Image</td></tr></table>

We also played about with reversed lenses... <table><tr><td>smac showed us all how to clean the Nikon reversing ring...</td><td>Image</td></tr>
<tr><td>First you give it a really good blow with the Giotto Rocket...</td><td>Image</td></tr>
<tr><td>Then a little condensation needs to be introduced... </td><td>Image</td></tr>
<tr><td>Then a gentle rub with the lens tissue... </td><td>Image</td></tr>
<tr><td>Followed by close-up attention... </td><td>Image</td></tr>
</table>
Cheers, John

John,

As always, a great morning, with many thnx to the Birddogs for their, as always, gracious hospitality.

And thanx for doing that demo on cleaning the reversing ring. It's a heavy little beastie, and correct procedure is a must.

Aaahh...you guys! By the way, do you put your reversing ring on backwards for a telephoto effect?

And thanks again to Birdy and Tran. Boy can she cook! Could have run a five star restaurant easy. And thanks to all the members who brought along their toys. It really is becoming "show and tell".
Regards

May I also extend my thanks to Birdy and Tran - it is always a delight to meet fellow forum members at the best restaurant in the universe :D

My first mini-meet and I was overawed by the friendliness of the other members and the gracious hospitality of our hosts. After a great lunch I left the gathering with a light heart and an even lighter wallet! Now I wonder where I can get a parrot suit for my flash?

:) Bob.

I think it's an outrage that such a finely ground, precision piece of equipment was treated in such a rough manner. Have you no respect??? :x

In the months to come I am hopeful that we will all see the results of Glen’s shoulder mounted SB800 and the parrot cover  Also, the urine powered SB800, compliments of Leigh 8)

John

is that a closeup of Gerard's eye?
It's an excellent shot.

Thankyou Birddog and all the other homeboys for once again making me the whipping boy, I enjoy the group's humour

It was LOZ's eye... I was just demonstrating how close you could get with the close-up filters on a 50mm lens...
