Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Back from Antarctica & Patagonia

For those unaware - I've been overseas for 4 weeks - 19 days of which was in Antarctica, but the balance was in Argentina and Chile. All up I have around 13,000 images from the trip after having completed my first cull  and I've now started on the PP. Owing to the vagaries of how I'm moving the images from my laptop to my desktop PC the first images available to me are from Buenos Aires at the end of the trip so no Antarctic images to share yet. Below are a few that appeal to me so far - all taken in Buenos Aires, Argentina. A few of these are HDR and feedback is appreciated.

You can see more images from the Argentina and Chile leg of my trip HERE. I'll be adding images progressively as they are ready.

This first image is the view from our hotel room. Avenue 9 de Julio is one of the main roads through BA and it's 14 lanes wide with two side roads adding another 8 lanes. It takes a while to cross on foot  .

Image

Recoleta is an affluent part of the city with a large (and famous) cemetery. We had 3 hours at the cemetery and I probably needed 3 days there - it's crowded with mausoleums and has many famous people buried there, including Eva Peron (somewhere - never did find her tiny grave). This shot is inside the church that adjoins the cemetery

And this is an example of what the place is like - row after row of mausoleums.

Great work on 2 and 3.

That cemetery is something else, isn't it? Did you go to the big restaurant/coffee spot under the trees outside?

I think BA is one of the most interesting places to visit.

zomg!

Welcome back Peter, I trust it was a enjoyable trip?

That is certainly one nice view from your hotel room, I would have liked it a bit wider to encapsulate the entire roundabout but hey...

Some images.....I'll bet that these stunners are just the tip of hte iceberg.

I like the dynamic captured in the first, it really is some road and roundabout!

What an amazing trip you must have had, I can't wait to see what you post next. Such a rich place, and that cemetery just looks incredible, I could lose myself in there for days. Your pics are fabulous - I especially love the vibrancy and life in the first!

Literally. :) I expect we'll be seeing the iceberg images before too long.

Welcome back Peter; you've been missed.

I hope that the trip was everything you expected, and then some.

These are stunning images, and I expect that there will be heaps more to come.

I'd also be interested to hear your comments about your gear - how did everything work for you, what issues did you experience, and so on. Prior to the trip there was some discussion about all of this, and I'd love to hear about the outcomes.

:agree:
Never mind the photos. What worked & what didn't? gear-, luggage- and location-wise?
Like Murray, or perhaps I should say WITH Murray, I will be heading that way next year too.

(Not really serious about the photos. I want to see them too)

#1 I can't help feeling I'd like to see a few stars in that black sky.

#2 The back wall looks a little blurry to me. Do you have another with all that detail showing cleary?

#3 The pick of these for me. Even if it is just a bunch of concrete walls. But so is the Colosseum!
