Anyone tried this? From the little research I have done - it seems to be a good idea and an economical retro fit for those who have old MF lenses.

Any thoughts?

70-150mmm f/3.5 Series E

yeap iam a signed up for one.

a couple of warning i must say
you need a camera that can read your aperture without using the sub-command dial. like the f5, i am afraid the d70 can't do that so i was left using my mf 300 prime at f4 rather than f2.8 but that doesn't concern me too much as i use an f5 as well.
iam also having problem getting correct metering as it actually over-exposuring by 1.7stops. i am having this checked over again by the repair store that had this done. but for about 175$ you can get your old lenses to meter again.

And would you recommend it? 1.7 stop out does not make me happy?

camera clinic in melbourne.
i wouldn't recommend them just yet as iam taking it back tomorrow to get it checked, really cannot afford to pay for anymore repair work.
but iam pretty sure that its the lenses which is giving 1.7 overexp on the camera not the over way around. and i want it recalibrated.

recommend it, as in getting metering chip? yes.
my 300 costed me just under ~1700$ to chip, import and with case, filter, hood and cap. it would have costed me the same price just to buy the bare lenses in melbourne, both in very simliar good condition. bare in mind though that the hood costs over 300$ to replace, if you can find one.

well you also don't get any af but an af model would set you back 3k.
so if your willing to use manual go for it. but if not buy the 80-400 or the 300 f4 prime they both in the same price range for new equipment, i wanted better image quality than af.

camera clinic seems professional, just a little dogey with service staff.

i also picked up a cheapo 50-300 f/4.5 lenses for 90$
but to get it ai-ed and chipped would be an extra 230$
so i guess if you really want that rare or extoic lenses chipped, go for it

i just don't want to be stuck with having to dial exposures back and forth whenever i change lenses, just stupid.

pretty sure the camera is metered correctly i had done some studio work and it seem correct.

not really me thinks. some ppl want it done because some lenses offer something the af versions don't or don't make any more. or they're just cheap/poor like me. but you should ask the reason why you want it done in the first place. just trying to save a few dollars not having to buy a new lenses or you just like the lenses?
