Sigma 300mm 2.8

Postby big pix on Sun May 25, 2008 10:28 am

Well I finally got a chance to do some quick shots using the above lens. This beast is not what I would call a medium size lens but one that I would use on a mono pod, which I have done with the shots below. This lens is a little front heavy but easy to control with very little practice. I did find that a camera body with the power grip makes for a better balanced combination even when using a mono pod.

These are some quick shots done in one of my favorite locations, Tyrrells Wines in The Hunter Valley....... the images were shot using a D300 in RAW converted to JPG and posted with no sharpening....... I want to see what this lens can give me with different light.......

Bernie you must be as happy as a p*g in sh*t with this beautiful lens. I look forward to seeing more results but please lay off the local product as this lens is not OS

Looks like it will offer great subject separation. Bernie 'please explain' were you not entirely happy with the 120-300 f/2.8? :?

I have only just picked this lens up and have only had time to do the above test images. The 120-300 2.8 is a fine lens, but not very suitable to my way of shooting so I am testing the prime 2.8 for a comparison of the 2 lens......... will keep you posted when I have had time to do a complete test
