Portable DVD player/TV

Postby Reschsmooth on Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:51 pm

Possibly the wrong forum, but I was wondering if anyone can recommend:

1. A decent portable DVD player/TV that must have standard video in (RCA), preferably with a screen >9 or so inches.
2. Where to get one inexpensively.

I don't need one with MP3 player, games capabilities, etc.

Cheers
Regards, Patrick

1st choice must be Tevion/Aldi. My cousin works for their logistics supplier and bought like eight units to fit in his car, and the cars of other relos with young kids as backseat entertainment units.

Vicki's mother just bought Braden a Sony DVPFX850B, great little unit, but only 8" screen sorry. The beauty of this one is it has an adapter to go from the 2.5mm to RCA jack for input or output and also can play DIV-X movies, which is great for having mutliple movies on one DVD. It also has a 6 hour battery.

We have the sony one. It is one of the best out there. Most of the cheaper ones have very poor battery life. I pick it up from JB Hi-fi before Christmas for $350.

Thanks guys. The reason I am after a cheap one is to use it as a larger LCD screen for the D200 - using the V-out lead, plug it into the DVD player and be able to view the image at 8,9, 11, etc inch rather than 2.5 inch. Hence, the need for MP25 playing ability, very long battery life, sound, gaming, etc is not that important. I found a need (to the extent that this is a "need") for this on the weekend gone where the camera was set on a tripod at it's minimum height and it was difficult to view the screen without moving the camera setup.

That sounds like a good idea, but will the image quality from the d200 be sufficient to be of real use?

I have tried the D300's HDMI output to my LCD TV and 17" monitor(through a HDMI-DVi cable) and the output was pretty good.

Good luck
