Camera bags, choosing one is a pain!

I used to have the Computrekker AW Plus but it was FAR too heavy and didnt make good use of the space, added to the fact that you had to remove the backpack to take the camera out it was more of a pain than anything.

I like backpacks to allow for large amounts of weight but hate the design.

So now Im looking for a new one, and the Slingshot 300 looks great! However it doesnt have a backpack style with 2 straps for large amounts of weight but SEEMS to have all the other features I need.

My kit:

Canon 5D with Grip (1D Size body)
70-200 F2.8L IS (attached)
24-70 F2.8
580EX
50mm f1.4

Memory cards, Filters,Charger, 580ex charger & batteries, manuals, cables and cloths.

Any suggestions guys?

Check out the Crumpler shoulder Bag range.....

Personally for events I do not use a bag, I just carry my cam on me and the little extras in a waist bag.

have a look at the ThinkTank Rotation 360 backpack. Looks interesting and have read some good things about it. From what you describe of what you want, this could be it.

Welcome to the endless bag debate

There is no single bag that will suffice for all your needs - I have a variety of bags, each for a certain purpose:

- Microtrekker 200 (and soon to be Computrekker AW) backpack for transporting gear from one spot to another. The backpacks are the most comfy, but they are lousy for getting access to gear on the move (as you have discovered)

- Toploader for when I want a single body and a single lens.

- Lowepro belt / harness system for when I want to mix & match with lens cases, pouches etc

- Photo vest from vestedinterest.com - this is the greatest thing ever for accessing gear while walking around. Comfy, tough and functional. Only trouble is, you look like a tourist or commando

Ill check the thinkthank, seems multiple bags is the go! Crumper is shoulder, which isnt very good for a 5D,Grip,2 Batteries,70-200 IS and 24-70 - far far too heavy for 1 shoulder!

I use a Crumpler Whickey and Cox, but given that you have to take it off to take out the camera it might not suit your current need.

But as has been mentioned: you won't find a single bag to suit all conditions. Welcome to BAA (Bag-Addicts Anonymous)!

I like using backpack for bringing all my gear travelling, and shoulderbag when I'm out taking photographs.
I've walked around all day before with the shoulderbag before, and it hurt.

Yep, no single bag will do the task! Doh!!!

Slingshot looks the best, but only the 300 which they claim hurts with lots of weight
