Kirk L-bracket review

Postby radar on Mon Nov 27, 2006 8:29 pm

Hi,

I received my L-bracket today :D It came in very good time, even with FedEx.

I got the BL-D200 for my D200. It is from Kirk Enterprises. These are my first impressions:

-ordering was quick and easy
-got notified by Kirk when my order was shipped and given a FedEx tracking number
-ability to follow status of where the order is on it's way to Australia
-very nice finish, just as good as the RRS plate
-easy access to side rubber doors. I found it easier on the Kirk bracket then access on the D70s with the RRS
-weight is the same as the RRS bracket
-$10USD cheaper then RRS bracket
-shipping is the same price as RRS
-works nicely on my Benro ball-head

Overall rating: Excellent, highly recommended.

L-brackets are not cheap but they are worth it when you are in the field and you want to change the orientation of the camera. Having had one on my D70s, I just had to get one for my D200.

Cheers,

André

Scott,

ordered on the Sat 18/11, arrived today Mon 27/11 but there were two weekends in there, so actually 6 business days. It arrived in Sydney on Friday according to the FedEx tracking but had the dreaded clearance delays but just showed up at my door today.

Shipping was $42USD. Pity you weren't getting the D200 sooner, would have been nice to split that.

Hopefully this mini-review will tell people that there isn't much difference between RRS and Kirk so it will help you get somebody to share the shipping cost.

Cheers,

André

Where is the actual review? Although how much can you talk about an L shaped piece of beautifully machined aluminium. :)

That is the review :D

As you say, not much you can say "about an L shaped piece of beautifully machined aluminium".
