sensor cleaning in australia - working solution

Postby pirx on Wed Nov 24, 2004 3:54 pm

I just tried sensor brush from Visible Dust (the one reviewed recently on Luminous Landscape - in very positive terms)

I'm no Michael Reichmann, but the stuff works... exactly as he described it.

Got it two weeks after ordering - about 100A$ alltogether.

No instructions in the package, just brushes. Their site has a video of how to use them - I just followed it.

Looks to me like more practical approach than eclipse fluid etc - as this one can be mailed safely and appears less messy overall.

Hi pirx,

This Visible dust has been discussed before in our forum in September.
I got that kit same as Flyer from Newcastle.

Yes that kit works Ok with less seriously dusts means the dust bunnies are not stuck hard on CCD due to humidity, once you've got the dust bunnies stuck on the CCD hardly, then ONLY eclipse fuild and Pec*Pad can clean them out.
I use that kit for daily brushing lens and outer mount if neccessary and CCD cleaning with Eclipse fluid once I see some dust bunnies on CCD.

I'm sure Flyer uses the kit same way too.

Exactly right Birddog.
I was (still am :D ) very happy using Sensor brushes - they are great for removing light, non-stuck dust particles.
As Birddog said, very soon I had few dust bunnies that Sensor brush could not clean. Eclipse fuild and Pec*Pads is the only way to go.

G'day,

Not sure if anyone would be interested, but I just remembered when I had my D70 cleaned recently (first one since new and I haven't worked up the courage to be a big boy and do it for myself yet!), I managed to get a CD with what appears to be some form of sales pitch for the camera store etc. and it's primarily about cleaning CCDs, cool... From the store for nutting...

It's for Canon, Nikon, Fuji, Kodak and Sigma digital cameras, but the pps the web page appears to run is 47M compressed and I don't have a web-site where I can host the file but if anyone is interested I can "upload(?)" somewhere... I'm on ADSL so it's not too bad for me to send...

Just in case anyone's interested... Just let me know if anyone wants it and how to send it to ya...

Cheers,
Mudder
