For those who like to take photos of the moon.

There will be a lunar eclipse on 28 Aug 2007 and will be visible in it's entirety from all of the east coast of Australia, and NZ.

Unlike a SOLAR ECLIPSE where the moon blocks out the sun when viewed from Earth, during a LUNAR ECLIPSE the Earth blocks out the sun when viewed from the moon. What we see on Earth is the shadow of the Earth cross the moon as it moves in it's orbit. At totality, the moon turns red due to light from the sun refracting through the Earth's atmosphere, the same as the red sky of a sunrise or sunset.

I will be photographing this through my telescope from my observatory, lets hope the clouds stay away.. Adelaide people will be more than welcome and I have a spare scope with a tracking mount for use by others..
