Geoff, and Wendell - I can drive in from out here in the stix on Sat. Geoff, you can work on picking up Matt and Craig (I assume?) from the city.

What can I bring to go with the cognac and cheese, to have ourselves a pyjama party... ;)

Sadly Matt and Sam aren't able to make it now, so that takes us back to 19 participants!! Still good! Craig is staying with Genista and Doug.

And as of yet, no one told me if the party I'm supposed to be going to is on the Friday or Saturday...

If it's on the Friday, I get to spend the night at Geoff's.

If it's on the Saturday, I get to figure out how to survive at a party with my gear while being intoxicated and then still getting to the North Shore sometime around 4 am.

Geoff

I'll make the trek up there from the Deep South - can't think of a better reason to miss out on sleep than a sunrise shoot with you guys, so can you count me in too? For once I'll be awake before the baby - maybe I'll wake him up for a change! :)

Awesome Lynn,
I'm sure it will be well worth the trip, and I'm sure you'd enjoy some time way from the kids (even if they are all sleeping at the time).

Yes, too right. My little man's been waking me up super early lately with "breakfast, Mummy!", which hasn't been appreciated too much! I might wake HIM up on Sunday morning and tell him to make ME breakfast (which he can't, of course).

Craig, I know you're staying up north, so you're alright, but if anyone else needs a lift up to Dee Why, I'll be travelling up there by myself from Peakhurst, so have plenty of room in the car (well, enough for 4 people). I plan to go along the Eastern Distributor but I don't have to, don't mind a detour at all if someone needs a lift (what's sleep anyway?)

Just let me know

On a similar note if a train traveller needs a lift I can give someone a lift from North Sydney at 5am.

Geoff,
What's the plan if starts to bucket down with rain? (apart from getting wet!  )
What's the ideal lens for this walk and would we need a tripod for any pano moments?
I'm afraid Rachel now cannot make this event due to wedding plans, sorry if it's screws up any off the days events.
I'll be driving from Lane Cove so if anyone needs a lift just holler! :)

Paul, I had/have every intention of bring my tripod, but I'm not sure how much use I'll get. I was also going to be swapping between the kit lens and the 80-200 f2.8 when appropriate.. might even keep the 70-300G in there, but doubt I'll need it.

Alright, I just added VR to all my lenses (<- think about that for a moment), bought specifically for this expedition... Unfortunately I got carried away with my other money sucking hobby (blackjack) and don't have the dough for a decent ballhead for it. ;)

I got fresh cells for my Surefires too, so looking forward to sunday morning, come rain hail or snow! :D

Hmm I might just bring the 24mm prime and maybe the 70-200VR if I can be bothered lugging it around. :?

I think we will definately have use for the tripod for the actual sunrise photos, however the walk may be a bit different as it's quite narrow in parts. Having said that if you want to bring a tripod then go for it. There will be time and the ability to dump your tripods in your cars before we head off on the walk.

I will be taking all (3) of my lenses, the tripod for the sunrise and the monopod(probably) for the walk.

Hmmm...if the rain looks ominous at the time of the sunrise, we aren't far from our cars so that's not bad. If by the time the sun is up we will know if it's going to rain or not (forecast is looking good atm!!) or at least look threatening and we can make a decision then. If after the sunrise it has started to rain then we can all just mosey over to the cafe and have an earlier breakfast than planned :)

The forecast for Friday is clearing - whatever that means. So hopefully Sunday will be beautiful. Have you got a list of mobile numbers so you can text folk.

Cheers

I'd just like to renew my offer to give a lift to people living around the Toongabbie area (Seven Hills, Blacktown, Wenty and such).

Don't think for a second that I'm doing this for charity. I only need a surefire way to get me out of bed that morning...

Cheers
Steffen.

Steffen, why'd you think Geoff wants phone numbers?! Expect a wake up call at 3am. :D j/k

I had intended on not sleeping the night before, to ensure I wake up, but that only sounds like a good idea in theory...

It seems as though at this point in time, the party I was previously going to isn't going to be on... but I need to ask, what time will this evil wake-up day end?

Leigh - I suspect that we will finish up at about 10am (or there abouts).

i got to warn you if i dont eat early in the morning i get silly and may get uncontrollable or worse faint, i also have to leave the group no later than 10:00am i got a full day that day.

Maybe i can eat some cereal just before we go out at 5:00am just to be on the safe side

Wendell - I said 10am as a LATE estimate, to be on the safe side. You are more than welcome to some cereal before we go in the morning. We might even get you a croissant or something nice. :) I doubt we'd be finished before 9am though.

Geoff,
I sent you a PM a few days ago to say that Rachel can't make this event.
Apoligies if it screws any of the plans up.
I'll still be coming, even though I'm not a morning person
Looking forward to the catch up with everyone and hopefully a couple of good shots!

Hi all,
If everyone can aim to be at the meeting point by 5:30am. This gives us a good chance to congregate (and wakeup) and setup prior to sunrise at 6:06am. It’s going to be a pearler !!

Oh, I can finally see this forum/thread and catch up with stuff - especially this meet. Thankfully nothing major has changed and we're still on track.

As I've told Leigh, I've been getting 403 errors for the past day or so trying to login from home, which means the admins suspected my IP was in the range that sucked CPU utilisation off dreamhost and had cut me off... Fix it Leigh, fix it! :p

Have fun guys. Can someone get a pic of Leigh awake at 5 am AFTER having gone to bed (as opposed to STILL awake at 5 am having NOT GONE to bed)

How do you propose to put him to bed Peter? It's 1:30am on the morning of the meet (to leave the house by 5am), and we've just spent the past hour or so shooting the starts and moon.

I might rest for maybe 20 minutes but I'll keep the hard rock flowing through my Sennheisers so I can stay awake.

What a morning! Great idea Geoff and thanks for organising this event!

I'm dying to look at the pics, but I'm off to central coast now, so it will have to wait till tonight...

Cheers
