Next Melbourne Meet - July 10, 2005

Postby PiroStitch on Sun Jun 19, 2005 11:54 am

Hi ladies/gents/gals/guys,

I thought I'd make another thread for this as the other one seems to be getting cluttered.

Next meet details:
Where: Meet @ Time Out Café (café next to 7-11 in Fed Square)
When: Sunday July 10, 2005 @ 9am
Why: Because we haven't had one for a while and we get to meet new people ;)

We'll most likely hang around there sipping lattés and having a few scones before we depart on our merry way to acting like a bunch of tourists ;)

The people who are coming so far - apologies if I've missed out on your name, but feel free to add to it by replying:

* Stormygirl
* Olrac
* Meicw
* Kipper
* joolz & partner (canon fodder) :P
* Embi & J
* Greg B
* Nicole
* Alex
* Jamie
* Nikon Boy x 2
* endymion
* Hudo
* Bootros
* Mudder
* hangdog
* genji

-- Edit June 22, 2005
Whoa! Looks like it's going to be a great turnout :D Was in the city today and found the cafe was called Time Out Café

Cheerio,

Wayne

G'day,

I've just been informed that unfortunately Hel$tra have told my Mgr that apparently I'm not permitted to be anywhere that results in me taking more than 20-30 minutes to login (via either cable or ADSL) for the period of Friday 7pm to Sunday 7pm... Lucky I don't work for them huh... yep yep yep... Ahh, the world of IT huh...

Sorry guys, won't be able to make the week-end, I'll be sitting at home whinging :roll: Have fun!

Cheers.

Take care, mate!

Anyone interested in going to the Bill Henson exhibition after the meet?

Saturday is the last day

Bill Henson
3 Decades of Photography

Adult: $10
Concession: $7

Closing party -
Open until midnight Saturday 9 July
See the exhibition, meet the artist,
enjoy food, music and wine.

Bill Henson is one of Australia's leading contemporary artists. His powerful and edgy photographs approach the painterly and the cinematic, bringing together the formal and classical with the gritty, casual dramas of the everyday. Henson defines and redefines his subjects with a rigour that is inseparable from his technical command. He is a master of the use of light and dark in the tradition of the great European masters. Beautiful, confronting, and unforgettable his images capture a universal essence and enliven our own sense of being.

This landmark exhibition, which is organised by the Art Gallery of New South Wales, is the first major survey of Bill Henson's work and includes more than 350 works from more than a dozen series since 1974.

It's not looking terribly good, Greg! There are conflicting reports from different models as to how much rainfall we will get, as it all depends on the positioning of the developing low in the next few days. Saturday looks to be the worst day for rain, but we are talking about Melbourne here, and who knows??? Anything is possible!

Today my cards will be cleared, glass cleaned and batteries charged up and ready to go. All I need to do is shake off this coldy thingy I seem to have developed, and I'll be ready!!

Looking forward to it.....but not the prospects of rain :roll: .

A shower or two isn't bad Stormy, hopefully. But let's face it, Melbourne, July, it isn't going to be shorts and t-shirts!

Sorry guys, I've been away for two weeks in WA and just returned this morning. Managed to pick up some nusty bug while over there and still recovering. I'm sorry but I don't think I can make it to this one :( Really disappointed. Anyway, I will keep myself busy catching up on reading the posts and doing the post processing.

Hope to make it to the next one.

Appologies

I'm also on the 'not sure' list. I have a coldy thing with a nasty cough, and perhaps really shouldn't be out in the cold air and rain. I can't afford to get worse with 2 young kiddies to look after!

If I'm there, I'm there. More than likely I won't be. I will decide in the morning......

Hey , Whats wrong with a little rain and wind,i went out with my New
Nikon today ,yes i got a little wet(it was pouring rain and blowing a gale) but i also got some images that suited the weather, these were taken at the old North Wharf in melbourne,which is diagonally opposite the Polly Woodside,basically a derilict crane and warehouse,where once many people worked, i visited here when i was a young boy(a long time ago!) and remember it as a hive of activity, i took quite a few images both inside and outside of the building, these were shot with the X,
and a Sigma 15-30 @100 asa 1/100 sec, jpeg fine, large file,
Hope to see Melbourne group at the meet,unless i sleep in !
