Melb airline ticket for Anniversary Weekend

Postby genji on Mon May 09, 2005 1:21 pm

hi everyone

thought i would start the ball rolling on purchase of airline ticket to the AW.

i spoke to an assistant from flight centre and she has looked into the minimum numbers requried for group booking.

So far the cheapest airfare i found today (09.05.05) for depart 5 Aug return 7 Aug:
on Zuji.com is $195.26 a person round trip.
Qantas Airways flight 424
Depart: Melbourne, Australia (MEL) - Fri, 05 Aug at 10:30am Arrive: Sydney, Australia (SYD) - Fri, 05 Aug at 11:50am

Flight: Qantas Airways flight 445
Depart: Sydney, Australia (SYD) - Sun, 07 Aug at 3:30pm
Arrive: Melbourne, Australia (MEL) - Sun, 07 Aug at 5:00pm

virginblue is $196 a person round trip.
Fri, 05 Aug 05
Flight DJ 805
07:15am Depart Melbourne
08:35am Arrive Sydney

Sun, 07 Aug 05
Flight DJ 846
17:45 Depart Sydney
19:15 Arrive Melbourne

Can i get a head count of interested ppl from melb who r interested in the group ticket purchase? PS of course anybody with other ideas pls let us know.

UPDATE: I have also emailed Formula 1 hotel at enfield about group booking.

Until we (The Organizer) know the number of the attendees, then we will decide the way to ferry people around and will come with the ideas.

Or, Melbourne chapter can hire a minivan in Sydney for their group during their visit. ATM, myself and couple members will use our own means to pick up registered members at the airport.

redline,

There's nothing quite like having a bit of a snooze, and being totally oblivious to everything that's going on around you, is there? :)

Perhaps you might like to read this thread, or perhaps this one, or maybe even this one, which is currently gracing the site's home page.

Any question? Just ask!

Groovy, I wanted to go to Oran park before it closed! I'm in Kingsgrove, not real close OP, but close to Birdy's. :)

Your prices are for Friday morning since it's cheaper to fly then. I couldn't take the Friday off myself so would have to fly up after work if I go. Maybe others can though. Does the group purchase work only if people fly on the same flight? I'm assuming it does.

Genji,

Great idea... Wish I'd thought of it, I've already booked... Don't get up there until 11:35 though to get a sleep-in on the Friday, #210 return via Virgin...

Edit: Let me know how you go with the group booking at the hotel, I'd be in it :)

i'm open to the majority...

Sat, 06 Aug 05 Flight DJ 803
06:45am Depart Melbourne
08:05am Arrive Sydney

departing melb on that flight and returning anytime after 5:15pm on sunday is still total of $169 includes taxes.

i have no preference, so if this is better for majority... raise your hands..

That's probably not the best of scheduling, because you'll miss out on the Friday night festivities, and if your flights are at all delayed on the Saturday morning ...

What do you guys have planned for during the day on Saturday Gary?

Unfortunately my boss is off on a 5 week trip in July/August so I get dumped with his job. :x It's about $100 more expensive to go on Friday arvo. Anyone else got any thoughts?

Nicole,

All manner of things. Photoshoots in various parts of Sydney; Photoshoshop and lighting tutorials; hardware playpens ...

Don't you feel a bout of the flu coming on??
