Adelaide zoo minimeet ANZAC Day

a couple of shots from the Adelaide zoo minimeet on Anzac day
all shot on D80 with 1.4 TC on 70-200 VR 2.8 all pp in Nikon NX
All comments appreciated i'm still learning

Hi Warren, good to catch up with you again the other day! 8)

Shots #2 and #3 seem fairly overexposed to me. With NX, if you press Shift + H you'll see any lost highlights, they can sometimes be recovered by using an "exposure" adjustment - this can get you a fair bit more detail in the over-exposed areas. (For lost shadows, use Shift + S).

With the other two shots, I think they would be better if the fill flash was reduced a fair bit - for these sorts of shots, I would normally fill at about two stops under.

I agree. Warren, what setting did you have on the SB-600?
I normally run -1.7ev, but using TTL-BL could be easier.

was good to catch up with you & your lovely wife
I have gone back to the nef originals & made more jpegs & used the highlights button as u suggested & made some adjustments after lowering the exposure compensation, what a difference

Daniel, dont know if that counts as a chimp..I was checking the mighty 300D to see if it was still working after its return from the doctors.. All is well with it.

I was shooting -.7 on the sb600 i now know better
I have adjusted the exposure in nx & the shots look better now with no or nearly no highlights

I for one will admit i was chimping but i wont say what animal i was looking @ lol
only that it had 2 legs & will be my time stamp shot i think
was a great day with good company to bad there was too many @ the zoo
