New items ordered for my Nikon D50

Postby aussichef on Tue May 02, 2006 6:27 pm

I have just ordered a sb-600 flash & onmibounce
hopefully it will arrive before my next zoo visit a week from today
with fozzie ( he wont get his VR back so easy next time heheheh)
Before the night is out i will also either order the
Sigma 105mm 2.8
or the
Tamron 90mm 2.8
Opinions would be appreciated
i would have like to have got the Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 like tyron has, but i couldnt get that & the flash
it was a choice of the 70-200 alone or the flash & another lens & after being to the zoo with the group from on here on ANZAC day i was wanting in the flash dept lol

hi fozzie, aussichef,
are you planning to be at the zoo all day? i ask because i would be interested in any extension plans, say the botanical gardens from 5 or so (chance to really test out that flash aussichef!) if you are up for a really long day.
cheers,
bc

bouyant_clown - my Adelaide Zoo programme for Tuesday 9th May is:

Arriving 'Immersion Area' at 10:30am

Leaving at 2:30pm.

Not entirely sure what aussichef will be doing after 2:30pm, but stay tuned.

Man, do any of you people ever work???????
Now that there are quite a few more of us we should organise another "major meet". Any thoughts Fozzie??

Marvin - I get one day off a month (RDO) and I am three behind.

BBJ looks like coming up to Adelaide on Wednesday 14 June, and would like to go to the Zoo on the 15th June. He had to twist my arm to go  , and Virgs will probably come along to. Others are welcome to join in. BTW: I work to live, and not live for work.

With regard to a 'Major Meet, Virgs has suggested shooting at Port Adelaide: architecture, old boat slipways etc. Perhaps breakfast in the Port around 9:30am/10:00am on a Sunday and go shooting afterwards. Finish early afernoon. Your thoughts and availability required.

Edit: on a Sunday

Yes, count me in for thursdays... I have been busy this weekend constructing the pad for my new observatory for the telescope..Would like to have it up and running by the weekend but the wet weather is playing havoc. Have laid 2 tons of foundation and all the pipes are in place for the wiring. The observatory is sitting patiently in the back yard in two large bits waiting to go on its new home..Marvin and Pete may have to help me lift the base in place on saturday..

Hi Warren,

Has the Tamron arrived yet? I've seen the Canon mount version advertised lately, but not the Nikon, where are you getting it from? I'll text you my number, hopefully we can catch up on tuesday after work before you leave.

Cheers

LOL - I know you work hard Fozzie! I am just jealous that I am stuck here with nothing left to photograph and no flexitime or anything to get to the cool new zoo exhibits!! By the way, I KNOW that Virgs doesn't work - I've worked with him if you remember !
Port Adelaide sounds good to me! Stupid netball has started in earnest a couple of weeks ago so I have to play, coach and umpire on Friday nights and Saturday afternoons so Sunday is good. Let me know when anyone else can make it - I am flexible at this stage!

As of June 14th I'll be back in Adelaide with a mild case of Jet Lag... So I might give the Zoo trip a miss on the 15th...

I'd be keen for the Sunday shoot... I'd recommend meeting at "pancakes at the port" along side the lipson st lighthouse for breakfast and then meandering around on foot for a bit on the south dock.... Plenty of interesting things to take pictures of there...

Which slipways did you have in mind ? The ones on the north side of the river would require large zooms from the south bank as there is a big nasty fence on the north side that obstructs the view. Unless of course I slip the boat into the water

Look foward to finally meeting a few more people at the next meet. I'd need at least two weeks notice along with aussiechef to make sure I'm there.

Cheers
