Yes, stunned is an appropriate word.

This forum is unique in my experience. What happens here is simply wonderful - mini-meets, group shoots, anniversaries, competitions, prizes, access to the tools of our hobby at unbeatable prices. Add to that the helpful hints and technical assistance, general photography information and plain old camaraderie. A big thanx to Birdy, Gary and his team of admins and moderators, and all active members.

Those members who have never posted can not realise what they are missing out on.

As I already told Birddog at the mini-meet - I think his generosity is amazing...
I hope he makes a decent profit from his other customers...

The competition should be strong next time... If people don't enter, then it will won't be for lack of incentive...

Wow... the prizes on offer are unbelievable! Screw the 12 mths subscription to some dodgy mag (sorry Steve, twas a good picture and congrats on winning) ;) but this is perhaps the most generous set of prizes on offer for any photographic competition in Australia!

The pressure's on Flyer - you'll have to come up with a suitably challenging topic for this challenge.

It does raise the question, from a newbie - does the image have to be shot on a d70?

For this challenge, and of the D70 based cameras will be eligible. That means ...

D70
D70s
D50.

And if you don't own one of these, there's still no excuse: hands up those who have been to a mini-meet or one of our shoots, and have used someone else's camera ?

It happens all the time, so all you need to do is come along and involve yourself in our community!

And to Birddog ... what can one say ? The prizelist for this is simply astounding, as is Birddog's continuing generosity.

Soulboy,
Yes, the challenge is for all members on this board to participate but the prizes are only awarded to the winners, who are residing in Australia with
valid addresses in Australia.
Due to the warranty issues and shipping to overseas, as previously challenges, the prizes are not offered to overseas members.

There's nothing like this forum anywhere.
We have just over 700 members, even if every single one of them put an entry in, there's no other competition that I know of which gives these sort of prices with just 700 entries.
Just unbelievable, thank you Birddog.

This is amazing stuff. For someone who has only been a member of this forum for a couple of weeks, I was already amazed at the level of helpfulness, advice, and good natured banter, and, from what I've read, the generousity of Birdogg and the admins. But to offer prizes like these is wonderful stuff - it can only help make the group stronger. Thanks to everyone concerned, it's sites and groups like this which inspire others to keep on trying. (ps I want third prize! :D )

This is indeed a wonderful line up of prizes from a most generous man - Birdie :D

It is hoped, on my part, that many more people will enter this comp than have done before. There is nothing to be scared of as every one has the same chance of winning - whether you are an old hand or a newbie to the art of photography.

Remember the old saying: ”You have to be in it to win it”

This is truly a wonderful thing. I think a HUGE congratulations needs to go out to all the Admins, Moderators, Birdy (in particular) and anyone else behind the scenes that helps to make this monster run so well !!!

If Nikon ever visit this forum; guys - this is how you treat your fanbase.

I have a feeling that every member will be stepping out into the light for a chance at any of these magnificent and "extremely generous" prizes. I only wish that I could make it to the AA to meet all you wonderful people.

Good luck to everyone. May we all have clean sensors and dust-free lenses for this next challenge.....

I + the admins + moderators want to meet all other interstate's members and enjoying two days at the AA.
We already have some ideas of other workshops during two days for all attendees.

So, the fun will start as soon as you landed in Sydney.
For members haven't booking a flight, try to book a flight arriving Sydney on the Friday afternoon 5th August, before 3:00pm.

We try to organize Sydney's members to pick you up from the airport terminal.

If you're looking for accomodation, please try this:

http://www.formule1.com.au/search_results.asp

Enfield Formule 1 is the one fozzie will stay and hope we can get everyone stays in one place, easy for organising for transportation and meeting.

What if I pay for shipping and take care of warranty issues myself? I am sure Flipfrog, Dooda and Kerry would love to compete as well.

Scott,

Stay well away from any so-called reality tv show. The reality is that they bear no semblance at all to reality; John Clarke's vison of reality is far better.

Actually, stay away from just about any tv show altogether.

The Formule 1 motel is 20 minutes drive from the Airport, 10 minutes to the Mancinis restaurant, the main venue of the presentation evening on the August 6. 20 minutes to the Chinese restaurant at Hurstville for the dinner on the August 5.

I'm planning to have surprised door prizes on each evening.

It's a BIG 1
