Off topic Question

Postby W00DY on Thu Jan 06, 2005 10:52 am

Hi Guys,

I am heading up to the Gold Coast for 5 nights at the end of this month with the family and while we are there we are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary.

Anyway I was wondering if any of our northern members could recommend a nice restaurant for us to eat in one night (to celebrate the anniversary).

We won't have a car and are staying at the Mercure (spelling?) resort which I beleive is at the northern end of the beach (near Sea World?).

Any suggestions?

Cheers,

W00DY

Appreciate that Jordan.

Nothing toooo fancy as we will have a baby pram with us, and most likely a 6 month old in it :D

The 2 year old will be much happier with the resort's playgroup facility :)

Grand Mercure?

Postby the foto fanatic on Thu Jan 06, 2005 11:04 am

Hi woody
Are you staying at the Grand Mercure in Broadbeach?
If so, direct monorail link to Casino if that is your fancy - lots of eateries in there, but downside is "casino ambience" IMHO.
You would need car or taxi to get to Sea World if this is your venue.

But, the best eating area is Tedder Avenue in Southport - Italian, seafood, Asian cuisines all in a compact area and all quite good. A cab can take you straight there.

If Grand Mercure is not where you'll be at, post correct venue & between us Queenslanders of the forum, I'm sure we can steer you right.

Were staying at this place:

http://www.mercuresurfers.com.au/

Hence travel will never be the same again now that we have a 2 year old to think about :)

That is a big call Alistair - One which I might have to check out.

OK - not the Grand Mercure

Postby the foto fanatic on Thu Jan 06, 2005 3:51 pm

The Mercure you are staying at is right in Surfers Paradise, so it is closer to Sea World than the other one, which is further south at Broadbeach.

You are also closer to the Tedder Ave restaurant precinct, so I would still advise you to check that out.

I'll see if I can find some info about other restaurants in Surfers for you. :)

I have eaten here and it certainly is good. There are a couple of restaurants in this area, right near the Versace Hotel, that are also good.

As already stated the Casino does have several eateries, amongst them a really nice silver service restaurant well worth a visit. :D
