Many years ago I did a session with a couple of mates from here including Colin (who lives in Hazelbrook) at a little spot called Coachwood Circuit, which I again visited. It's a very nice little walk, but the more interesting things there are under foot - funky fungi. This place is alive with it, you barely need to walk several metres to get a full gamut of fungi, from cool red ones to dinky little white things to stuff which looks like its from another planet.

I took a slightly different approach with this one, 3 shot panorama

From time to time I just need to get my jetty fix - they are such photogenic and easy things to shoot, but I still love them, especially when the conditions are just right.

Havelock, a little town on the Nelson-Blenheim road near the top of the NZ south island, is famous as the "green mussel capital of the world." I love seafood but not green sea mussels. They taste a bit like dirt, not that I've eaten dirt since I was about 3 years old. Passed this moored boat last Sunday afternoon and had to stop and photograph it. Added some sepia/grain in post.

I’ve been a photographer for longer than I can remember and I have many learned friends in the industry. A few weeks ago I got a call from an old colleague who said the he had noticed something very peculiar. He had been reviewing his photographs from many years ago and had noticed that his images were gradually getting slightly darker as time progressed and that last year, 2016, they had lost almost half a stop of brightness. He checked his equipment and found everything seemed to be normal; he then consulted one of his more technical acquai ...

This is on the pier in Napier yesterday. It's some sort of pergola or something else designed by a clever artist. Whatever it is, it certainly captures the light in a fantastic fashion.
